Riiiiight...

So in Hollywoodworldland, they'd have us believe boys who look like

Photobucket

and

Photobucket

would spend their time beating up on each other.

Oh don't get me wrong - I have no doubt that in Real World Land there'd be plenty of sweating, pounding, possibly cuts and bruising and near-nakedness involved between the two. However...

Seasoned Beatings y'all!

Photobucket

Oddly, I don't remember the Santa on whose lap I'd sit at the John Martin's Christmas Cave looking like this chap. Maybe it's time for some good ol' fashioned repressed false memory syndrome...

(Speaking of John Martin's: Seeing 'tis the season and all for sloppy reminiscences of times gone by - check out this ad for the former Adelaide giant. I think it's the old North Terrace store. 80s fashions - no. Just - no.)

See yas in '08.

Take five

A commenter has kindly suggested this ongoing reasons-to-preference-Labor analysis needs to be broken up with a hottie picture or two. Sorry if this has been boring y'all, it's just stuff I wanna get off my chest before November 24.

Anyways, he's an oldie, but never gets any less hottie:

I miss Benji. Curse Nikki Whelan for thinking she'll be the next Radha Mitchell blonde Gaybores starlet to make it big in Hollywood (big hair and cans do not alone the actress make, particularly where a vacuum of actual talent is involved).

Curse the Gaybores writers for doing nothing else with Benji's character than making him Pepper's love interest such that when she left, he had to go too.

Curse the Gaybores writers for not having a storyline about Declan discovering hitherto unknown 'special', 'tingling' feelings when Benji, in cop uniform, was arresting (read: handcuffing) him for stealing that car.

A pox on all their Docklands apartments.

Like sands through the phwoarrrr glass...

So one of the nice things about working from home is that you get to catch up on your Days and your B&B (no longer your Y&R, unfortunately, but - meh. Most of their characters eventually end up on Bold anyway.)

More importantly, you get to find out that Shawn D Brady has been recast in the form of Brandon Beemer:

...And then suddenly, you forget you're meant to be working. And indeed, your name, age, address and memories for the last 15 years.

According to the ever-reliable OTHER Miss Hilton, Brandon is f**kin' to the Bass. Lance Bass, that is. Lucky sod.

I just don't understand...

...What Dan 'Lobotomy for Jesus' O'Connor is still doing on Gaybores.

His sole purpose - SOLE purpose - on the show for the last couple of years has been bod candy - the faggolicious Gaybores writers contriving painfully obvious situations in which he can be gratuitously unclothed.

But between the dudes who play Frazer, Oliver and Ringo - not to mention the all-growed-up (but soon-to-depart) Boyd - that function really is more than covered. And on a good day, Frazer and Oliver can act a bit, too!

Dan's redundancy is particularly pronounced now with the arrival of Dannii Minogue's gay husband, Benjamin Hart:

Presumably, Dan has a big fan base of target market girlies - his Christian City Cult Church sorority, no doubt - but are they really enough for the producers to warrant dragging him out this long? I thought happy clappers considered Carefree Barely There Liners blasphemous, anyway.

Perhaps it's the same people who watch(ed) Everybody Loves Raymond, NCIS, Numbers, and all those other piss-poor Ten shows that you never seem to know anyone personally who watches, but somehow they keep rating.

Irregardless, I'm confused. Nearly two years on the show and he's actually, somehow, gotten worse. You never expect the Royal Shakespeare Company on Gaybores, but Jan Russ has usually managed over the years to turn the young'ns from painful to barely competent - watchable, at least.

But man, she's REALLY dropped the ball with Dan.

Not-so Ugly Betties

Lordy, it's been a while since my last random posting of exploitative hot-man pics, hasn't it? Sorry about that.

Anyway, it was quite the smorgasbord watching the latest Ugly Betty. On top of resident hottie Eric Mabius (not literally, sadly), there were a couple of delicious, exotic flavours for those who prefer their bread a little less white.

First, Cristian de la Fuente playing Alexis' new love interest:

(although, naturally, being Brazilian he's totally duplicitous and working in the employ of evil Jim Robinson from Neighbours. Gotta love the show that's working to style positive images of Mexican-Americans but can't help falling back on the 'evil, swarthy Brazilian' stereotype when it suits).

But for real black coffee, not just cafe au lait, meet Amanda's new love interest, played by Mykel Shannon-Jenkins:

Can't see Amanda going back...

Surprise surprise, Silvo Horta, the producer of UB, like pretty much all the producers of the best shows on TV at the moment, is himself a big 'mo. Mmm, casting couch.

I gotte get me that job...
