Kim, Kimmwuy, Kimmwuy Lork at Moyie Ploise, Lork at Moyie...

Now I got one word to say to you Kim: Get real, don't oppose tax cuts, yes you're right that they're unfair, yes it's clearly wrong when a 55k earner is only getting 0.01% of a weekly tax cut when a 125k earner is getting 0.07%, but do you think Joe Stupid Voter is going to be able to see the big picture this way or do you think he'll just see you as the grinch who denied him an extra 6 bucks a week beer money, and what's up with your own Treasurer contradicting your stance on this, is this indicative of how hopelessly fragmented and disorganised your party is and aren't you really only doing this because senatorially you become totally redundant in less than three months and this is the last time you and the minor parties and indies can actually have any influence there and you want to go out with a bang rather than a whimper?

Man, the Opposition really is its own greatest opponent. It's going to be PM Howard/Costello/Abbott/Vanstone/Turnbull/Nelson/Nelson from Big Brother until 2055 at this rate.

Even after the changes Australia will have a higher top threshold than New Zealand, Britain, the USA etc etc. You don't think is a good reason to cut our top rate? We shouldn't be looking at "Joe Stupid Voter"'s tax rate - we should be looking at how much Joe Chan in Singapore and Joe Ong in Malaysia is paying. Why would successful business people and entrepreneurs want to work here when the govt takes half their moeny in tax?

PS Your contempt for the citizens of Australia is disheartening.

Well Maddy, they DID elect Howard...

Personally Sam, Id be happy with ZERO tax cuts, for anyone, ever, The money is better off in services than in people's pockets.

Maddy: it's not the citizens of Australia I have contempt for, just the voters who vote for Howard based on their own self-interest and perceived financial hip-pocket gain.

I am currently one of the lower income earners in the $6 a week category and while I think it's quite piddly, I don't think tax cuts for upper income earners are automaticaly a bad thing, because an incentive should always remain for people to better themselves so that they can gain greater career options and skills and earn a bigger salary without having it taxed to buggery. And yes, I realise a lot of people don't have the luxuries I have of being able to return to uni for post-grad study if they choose.
